Generic Medicine Finder
Generic Medicine Finder helps you find nearby Jan Aushadhi generic-medicine stores. It is built to work without collecting who you are. This page explains exactly what data moves where — and what never leaves your phone.
1. No Accounts, No Sign-Ups
Generic Medicine Finder does not use accounts, sign-ups, or logins. There is no profile to create, and nothing about your use of the app is tied to your name, phone number, or email.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect, request, or store any personally identifiable information. There is no registration, no login, and no user profile stored on our servers.

3. Data That Stays On Your Device
The list of stores ships inside the app itself, as a database on your phone. Every search runs on your device against that database, so an ordinary search makes no request to us at all. The following never leaves your phone:
- Your device location, when you choose to search by "near me" — it is used only to rank nearby stores by distance, then discarded.
- The pincode you type, when you search by pincode.
Uninstalling the app permanently removes everything it stored — we hold no copy of it.
4. What Our Server Sees
The app occasionally asks our server one question: "is there a newer version of the store list?" If there is, it downloads the updated store database. These requests carry no personal data — no location, no identifier, nothing about you or your searches.
Standard technical connection information (such as an IP address) may be processed briefly for routing and security, as with any internet service, but it is never linked to you personally.
5. Location
Location permission is optional. If you grant it, your approximate or precise location is used only on your device, and only to sort nearby stores by distance. It is never stored and never transmitted to us or anyone else. The app works fully without location — you can always search by pincode instead.
6. Third-Party Services
Generic Medicine Finder does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social-login providers. When you tap "Directions" or "Call", the app hands off to your maps app or your phone dialer; at that point, that app's own terms and privacy policy apply, not ours.
Store information is derived from the Government of India's Jan Aushadhi (PMBJP) open data. Please confirm details with the store, as public data can be out of date.
7. Security
All communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS/TLS encryption, and cleartext traffic is blocked entirely. Store-list updates are verified for integrity before they are applied, so a corrupted or tampered download is rejected. Because we do not collect personal data, there is no user account database that could be exposed in a security incident.
8. App Permissions
The app requests only what it needs:
- Internet — to check for and download updates to the store list.
- Approximate / precise location — optional; used on your device only, to rank nearby stores by distance.
It does not request contacts, camera, microphone, storage, or SMS access.
9. Not a Government App
Generic Medicine Finder is an independent, privately developed app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by the Government of India, the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI), or the Jan Aushadhi (PMBJP) programme. It does not issue, host, or modify any government service. Store information is sourced from public open data and should be verified with the store directly.
10. Children's Privacy
Generic Medicine Finder is a general-purpose store-locator utility and does not knowingly collect personal data from children — consistent with the fact that it collects no personal data from any user, regardless of age.
11. Your Rights & Choices
- Turn off location: revoke the permission anytime in your device settings; the app keeps working by pincode.
- Delete all local data: uninstall the app, or clear its storage from your device settings.
- Access requests: since we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end.
12. Changes to This Policy
If our data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect in the app.
