GovStep — Government Jobs App
GovStep is built to work without collecting who you are. This page explains exactly what data moves where — and what never leaves your phone.
1. No Accounts, No Sign-Ups
GovStep does not use accounts, sign-ups, or logins. There is no profile to create, and nothing about your usage is tied to your name, phone number, or email. Your qualification, state, and other preferences are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to us.
2. Data We Collect
We do not collect, request, or store any personally identifiable information. There is no registration, no login, and no user profile stored on our servers.

3. Data That Stays On Your Device
To personalize which jobs are shown, GovStep stores the following only on your phone. It is never uploaded, synced, or transmitted anywhere:
- Your selected qualification, degree/stream, and (if applicable) teaching subject
- Your selected state and job category preferences
- Your saved/bookmarked jobs
Uninstalling the app permanently deletes this data — we hold no copy of it.
4. What Our Server Sees
We do not log any activity against a user identity, because no user identity exists in our system. Standard technical connection information (such as IP address) may be processed briefly for routing and security purposes, as with any internet service, but it is never linked to you personally.
5. Third-Party Services
GovStep does not integrate any advertising networks, analytics platforms, or social login providers. "Apply" links open the official government website or notification PDF directly — at that point, that website's own privacy policy applies, not ours.
6. Security
All communication between the app and our server uses HTTPS/TLS encryption. Because we do not collect personal data, there is no user account database that could be exposed in a security incident.
7. App Permissions
GovStep requests only the minimum permission needed to function: internet access, to download the current job list. It does not request contacts, camera, microphone, storage, location, or SMS access.
8. Children’s Privacy
GovStep is intended for job-seeking adults and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13, consistent with the fact that it collects no personal data from any user regardless of age.
9. Your Rights & Choices
- Change or clear preferences: update them anytime from the app's profile screen.
- Delete all local data: uninstall the app, or clear its storage/cache from your device settings.
- Access requests: since we hold no personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to provide, correct, or delete on our end.
10. Changes to This Policy
If our data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect in the app.
